Stafford Council teamed up with the Town Centre Partnership (TCP) and Trinity Mirror – owners of the Staffordshire Newsletter and Stoke Sentinel – to put on the conference on Tuesday (5 September.) All tickets for the event were snapped up giving a full house at the Apothecary in Stafford.
The conference came on the back of a successful digital campaign, with the town chosen as a national pilot for the #WDYT initiative – which stands for ‘What Do You Think.’ Since its launch, earlier this year footfall in the town centre has increased and Stafford is now in the top 30 most influential towns for digital output – compared with around 1300 other areas.
Leader of the Borough Council, Patrick Farrington, said:
“I am very pleased we have teamed up with key organisations in our area to give those who are dedicated to investing in Stafford a glimpse of what the future could look like.”
“Our borough is successful and growing. Major investments are taking place, including significant areas of new housing, new leisure facilities and new businesses. I hope those who attended were as excited about our borough’s future as we are.”
The TCP aims to promote the town on a local, regional and national scale and currently has a membership of more than 100 businesses.
Partnership chair, Chris Lewis, said:
“Stafford is growing and the town centre is evolving. Most people have a general understanding of what social media and digital marketing are, however, a lot do not realise its full potential of how it can help market their businesses. I am sure this event improved that understanding.”
“From what I have seen and heard there is tremendous potential for more investment in and around Stafford and the TCP will be looking to capitalise on this to benefit our local businesses.”
